'The Siren and the Seamare'

Be sure to check out my COMIC SERIES of the song as well!

Whoohoo! Time to break the silence on a secret project (well, one of my secret projects) I've had brewing for a while :phew:

Nine months ago, I approached the great and musically-talented Carbon Maestro with a commission idea for a song with vocals. I knew that I wanted it to be related to the Sirens, namely the lovely leader Adagio and a character I created a long time ago, the seamare Turquesa, as (in their desperation) they combine the crumbs of what they have left to make a change in their miserable lives, but at a very dangerous cost.

Working on this song has been a challenging yet amazing experience for me, for I have never written lyrics nor worked on anything musical before. As the commissioner, it was my job to choose who I wanted to have voice said characters. From the get go, I already knew I wanted SweetPoffin as Turquesa, for I had been following her vocal work for a couple of years ad with her versatility and passion, knew she'd provide something special to the table for the seamare. And Adagio? Pfft, didn't even have to think about it. C'mon, who better than the mistress of Siren voicework herself, Wubcake? Together, I think the four of us were able to weave something a little special and if it wasn't for the hard work, endurance and patience of everyone involved, this never would have happened, so thank you guys!

As for the story, I'm afraid can't go into full details at this time, but as you can surmise, this tale revolves mostly around Adagio and her sisters Aria and Sonata (yes, in my mind, the three are siblings), as they wander through a sort of limbo in life post-Rainbow Rocks. Meanwhile, another character is sort of going through her own terrible...situation (sorry, so hard not to spoil) and eventually, casually bumps into the leader of the Sirens. Let's see, um, things happen and that leads to other stuff happening and as a result, life goes up, then as all things that go up, come down and myeah, it isn't pretty. LoL! I know, I know, don't hate me.

Have I written anything solid about all this yet? Hm, no, not really, only what I've shared with people extremely close to me who I've grown to really trust. But because this means so much to me, it is something that I am excited to focus on next year. The main reason for the slow process is time. I work 40 hours a week, so the time I have to dedicate on personal projects is very far and in between, not to mention that I'm trying to finish personal and special art pieces on the side and perfect my art techniques. Secondly, I don't believe in factory-pressed stories. If I'm going to write something, I want it to be something that I have thought about all the way through and have a clear direction of where I want to take it and any characters associated with it.

With that said, I think I'd prefer to draw this story in comic format versus writing it out because that would take f-o-r-e-v-e-r! Plus, I'd like to perfect my comic-drawing and storyboard skills, after being somewhat inspired by my bestest best friend JackyBunnyBun and her Speedy Gonzalez comic techniques :)

Speaking of Jacky, I'm very proud to point out that this picture is a collab effort between her and I. I may have illustrated the picture, but she provided the amazing effects and colors that you see here :boogie: It came out soooo amazing and I'd like to thank her for being so patient with me during the process via Livestream and for listening to my sh*tty story ideas :) Thanks, lovelyyyy :glomp::kiss:

Well, I think that's all there really is to say about this :D I guess I'll add that this was my very first time drawing the Sirens as humans and I'm really happy with how they turned out. I'm heavily influenced by shoujo art, especially Takeuchi Naoko's manga style (it's sooooo PRETTY) and hope I can master my own spin on it someday.

Anyway, enough rambling!

I'd like to thank everyone who helped make this song possible and for those who I confided my secrets to and were there during the developmental process. Without you all, this never would've happened, so thanks so much for your support and you all have my love

In past week, I've listened to this song about...ten times.

It isn't just a good effort on the part of a brony. This song feels like something that came from a really hardcore Disney movie.

I wish you had a Hollywood movie budget and tons of time.  You could make an excellent animated movie musical.
